Simply Sweet Weekend
Our weekend was simply sweet.
You know, I think I've shared before, the motto of the Coast Guard is Semper Paratus or "Always Ready." My plans always are changing. I need to be "Semper Paratus" when I make plans. I did not get to go to the golf clubhouse to eat lunch with my husband on Friday. Nor he did take off early for Coast Guard day.
I spent an hour or so at the DMV getting my drivers license. When they send it to me, I'll share what the picture looks like. Then we went to the county library and got a library card and checked out books. My little student devoured about 6 books that afternoon!
When Daddy got home we requested he take us to the beach. The park we wanted to go to was closed.
We went to one of our favorite little places along San Diego Bay instead. Then daddy cooked us dinner at 5 Guys.
Saturday we walked around some antique stores and made a trip to Lowe's. We were looking for materials to make a headboard for my bed. We found some at Lowe's in the lawn and garden section . . . no dig fence sections. They were black so my husband painted it cream. He did a great job attaching it to the bed. Now my pillows don't hit the blinds on the window!
Yesterday we tried another church. It was a bit farther away, about 15 minutes from the house. It was a predominately Filipino church. It was a nice service with friendly people who use our version of bible and have some great musical talent. I am comforted that there are so many good churches to choose from unlike the previous place we lived!

How wonderful to have several churches to choose from! I prefer my KJV. Just seems like an old friend that I can curl up with and I love the language in it. So rich and deep!
Glad you made it out to SD in good shape; we were praying for safe travel! #2 son looks so grown up! C and E went back to Kodiak for Camp again this year; had 2 saved!
We will pray for your church-search; we are back in the hunt as well but are partial to one in particular where E attends part-time Bible College in Va. Beach.

I LOVE the headboard! cute idea! We are making our own as well, all the ideas are still in our head and not purchased from Lowes yet! LOL I'm glad you are having a good time!
@floridayankees - It really was very easy. The wood he used was cedar fence boards that were in the garage. Some bolts, nuts and a few screws. The fencing pieces were interlocking. All for about $25 dollars!
@betheelou - is your bed king or queen? I'm just trying to decide if we want to keep our king or downsize, we can't decide because sometimes we have little visitors in the night LOL
@floridayankees - Ours is California King. You should keep the big bed. I love having the room to spread out, even when it is just us two. We have our bed on bed risers (you can find them at Bed, Bath and Beyond) so if we need the extra storage, we always have under the bed. I can't imagine us sleeoing in a double bed now. Double is what we had when we were married, so cozy. When they put us in one at a hotel we complain because we think it waaayyy too small!
@betheelou - im sure you are right! Thanks for telling about the bed risers I think I do need that, but then I will definitely need a custom made bed ruffle! Do you make yours?????
@floridayankees - Yes I make my own. I've not seen ones with a 21" drop like I need when my bed is risen. They are easy to sew, just a gathered ruffle fabric and a sheet from the thrift store for the sandwich part of the ruffle.
@betheelou - one more question, do you gather yours on machine?
@floridayankees - I sew a straight stitch on the largest setting and then pull on the bottom thread and it gathers the fabric very easily, then I sew the ruffle to the old sheet.
